Education.

“Education is the one thing that you can give away and yet still keep.”

Mr. Richard Bryant founded Bryant Auction in 1967 with his wife Barbara Bryant. As a proud veteran, educator, and auctioneer, Richard had a love for many things. He, however, cherished his family most of all. Mr. Bryant passed away in March of 2011.

Richard was a 1950 graduate of Montrose High School. He earned a bachelor of science degree in education, a bachelor of arts degree in chemistry and math, and a master’s degree in natural science from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College (Truman State University), Kirksville.

He also was a graduate of the Reisch Auctioneering College. He served in the United States Army from 1953-1955. Richard was an educator for 33 years, teaching chemistry, physics and mathematics for the Fort Madison Community School District, retiring in 1992. He concurrently owned and operated Bryant Auction Service for 38 years in the Lee County area. He was a member of Sandusky United Methodist Church, the Masons, American Legion, National Auctioneer Association, National Rifle Association, and National Education Association. He also served as the president and vice president of the Fort Madison Education Association.

He was the grand marshal of the Fort Madison High School free style wrestling tournaments, received an Honorary Coaching Certificate presented by the Fort Madison High School coaching staff, and sponsored a teacher softball team for several years in Fort Madison.

He also conducted and donated countless hours to local benefit and charity auctions.


Barbara A. Bryant

Richard's loving wife Barbara enjoyed taking care of their four children and founded Bryant Auction with her husband over 45 years ago. She was the cashier, clerk, and manager. Barbara has since retired and loves spending time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


Richard "Rick" H. Bryant

Helping Others.

“The opportunity to help our clients when they need it the most is the greatest feeling.”

Rick, the eldest son of Richard and Barbara, learned the art of auctioneering from his father at age 13 and helped his family run Bryant Auction for many years. Since his parents' retirement, Rick took over the company and moved the business and his family to the Lake of the Ozarks, MO. Since inception in 1967, the Bryant family has conducted over 4,000 auctions and is now the home of “SOLD!”—the successful auction TV show on the History Channel.

Rick was a police officer for over 14 years. Awarded two commendations for bravery and above and beyond duty call, and several meritorious citations, and credited with saving multiple lives. Rick also served as a paramedic for 6 years, credited with saving dozens of lives, 6 were under the age of 8. Rick also served as a fireman for 4 years and is certified as a scuba instructor, rescue dive instructor, and is swift water rescue certified.

Rick is also licensed as a fixed wing pilot by the FAA and has piloted an A-1 Albatross fighter and a Huey UH-1 Iroquois.

Rick also served on the Board of the National Pawnbrokers Association and was Chairman of the Public Relations and Communications committee. During his tenure with the Association, Rick received the “Hero of the Year” award for saving a life, raised funds for many national charities including to benefit Hurricane Katrina victims, and conducted charity auctions in Las Vegas, San Antonio, New Orleans, Orlando, and various cities in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, and Kansas.

Dylan R. Bryant, MPA
Chief Marketing Coordinator

The People.

“One of the best parts of the auction business, for me, are the people I get to meet and that become like family.”

Dylan is the company's chief marketing coordinator. He started his auction career at age 14.

Dylan performs customer service, computer maintenance, electronic customer and sales record-keeping, and development and management of marketing campaigns, promotions, online presence, and innovative technological business practices for the company. 

Dylan holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Arkansas State University and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Public Administration (DPA) from West Chester University of Pennyslvania.

Robert "Bobby" G. Bryant
Ringman 

Richard and Barbara's youngest son, Bobby, has been a ringman for many years for the company. Bobby also assists on speciality auctions in pre-auction setup, item procurement, and the management of floor staff. Bobby possesses expertise in vehicles, boats, motorcycles, watercraft, furniture, antiques, and tools.


Danyale R. Bryant, MPA
Clerk

The Numbers.

“I love keeping track of the numbers and everything that sells at each auction. Someone has to keep everyone straight!”

Danyale started her auction career at age 12 and is now one of the company's best clerks. She is responsible for capturing every item's description, auction price, and consignor and buyer information. Danyale holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Arkansas State University and earned her undergraduate degree from Westfield State University.


Angela "Angie" M. Schejbal
Office Manager & REALTOR®

Getting Organized.

“I enjoy helping prepare the team and our clients for auctions and providing the support necessary to do what we do best!”

Angie is the office manager and a licensed realtor belonging to the National Association of REALTORS® and the Bagnell Dam Association of REALTORS®. Angie is responsible for managing consignment records, auction scheduling, and specializes in marketing and selling real estate at auction.

Brian K. Ivie
Ringman, Online Sales, & Asset Protection

Brian is the one of the company's best ringmen, online sales coordinator, and head of the asset protection team. He is responsible for assisting in conducting the auction the day of the sale, displaying items, taking bids, and helping customers understand and partake in the auction process. Brian also helps the auction company get the best prices for its consignors by integrating online sales with the traditional onsite auction method. In addition, Brian ensures the company's assets, both personnel and inventory, are protected and secure. Brian also helps the community by assisting Bryant Auction in conducting numerous charities every year.


David A. Coutchie
Auctioneer & Ringman

David is one of the company's auctioneers and ringmen. In addition, David is a licensed realtor and a member of both the Missouri Professional Auctioneers Association and the National Auctioneer’s Association. David is active in the Springfield area. His expertise is land, cattle, vehicles, and the regulations and standards of the profession. Dave helps with several charities annually throughout the state.


John Wright
Auctioneer & Ringman

John's upbeat personality as an auctioneer and ringman energizes the crowd and makes attending an auction exciting. John's expertise ranges from household items and furniture, to collectibles and electronics. John has been a frequent auctioneer for the Bryant family for more than 15 years.
